What is a load balancer?
A load balancer distributes incoming traffic across several servers so that none is overloaded. It checks server health continuously and, when a server fails, takes it out of rotation and sends traffic to the healthy ones automatically.
With layer 4 (TCP/UDP) and layer 7 (HTTP/HTTPS) balancing, web applications, APIs, email and database services keep running without interruption.
Benefits for your organisation
- Uninterrupted service, even during planned maintenance
- Fast, consistent response times under heavy traffic
- Lower server load with SSL/TLS offloading
- Disaster recovery with global server load balancing (GSLB)
- A unified security layer with WAF and DDoS protection
Our service scope
We measure your application traffic, find bottlenecks and design the hardware, virtual or cloud load balancer that fits your needs.
- Traffic analysis and capacity planning
- Active-active / active-passive high availability design
- Health checks, session persistence and routing rules
- Certificate management and WAF integration
- 24/7 monitoring, performance reporting and maintenance
Which algorithm should you use?
Round robin, least connections, weighted distribution or response-time routing are chosen according to how the application works. In the analysis phase we agree on the right algorithm and session handling together.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a load balancer the same as a standby server?
No. A standby server only takes over when the primary fails. A load balancer spreads traffic across all servers all the time and removes failed servers automatically.
Can I use a load balancer in the cloud?
Yes. We set up the load balancing services of Azure and other cloud platforms, or hybrid designs that manage on-premises and cloud together.
Does a load balancer stop DDoS attacks?
Features such as connection limits and SYN protection reduce the impact. For full protection we design the load balancer together with WAF and DDoS protection services.
